RedRuins Softworks Returns With Canyons — A Chaotic Co-op Shooter Set in a Desert World

Get ready to explore the wastelands! RedRuins Softworks — the developers behind Breathedge — have officially re-announced their next big project, Canyons. Published by HypeTrain Digital, this upcoming third-person co-op shooter brings players into a harsh desert world filled with danger, loot, and plenty of chaos.
From the Team Behind Breathedge
If the name RedRuins sounds familiar, that’s because they’re the team behind the hit indie survival game Breathedge — a darkly funny space adventure that blended crafting, exploration, and absurd humor. Since its 2017 debut, the studio has built a reputation for creativity and bold design choices. With Breathedge 2 already planned for early 2026, Canyons marks another ambitious step forward for the team.
Originally revealed during IGN Live 2024, Canyons promises a completely new kind of survival-shooter experience — this time, set in a crumbling desert world teeming with threats.
Loot, Build, and Survive the Canyons
Canyons is shaping up to be a 4-player co-op PvE shooter with a mix of base-building, crafting, and exploration. You’ll take on the role of a member of the Order of the Double Cross, survivors who wield mysterious powers known as Sacred Blood Pacts. These abilities help you battle against the Awakened — twisted entities responsible for the planet’s downfall.
Expect procedurally generated environments, plenty of loot to collect, and team-based missions that push your survival skills to the limit. Whether you’re taking on hordes of enemies solo or teaming up with friends, Canyons aims to offer a challenging yet chaotic co-op adventure.
A Promising Desert Adventure
With its mix of survival, crafting, and co-op shooting, Canyons looks like one of 2026’s most exciting indie releases to watch. RedRuins Softworks and HypeTrain Digital seem ready to deliver another unique, story-driven experience — this time set in a world where every grain of sand hides a new threat (or treasure).
We’ll be keeping a close eye on Canyons as more details drop.
